Cajun Country!

Yesterday was quite a long day. After getting off work at 7am I rushed home to get ready for the funeral. Ryan had had an altercation with a swiffer sweeper trying to clean for my mom's arrival on monday and made a small gash in his hand. It was not as bad as he thought. He wanted to go to the ER for stiches but I bandaged him up and we were on our way to Houma. Ryan had mapquested the church which should have only taken us about an hour to get to and we had left 30 minutes early. We made it to Houma which if you don't know is down and dirty bayou country, but the next road we were to turn on I never saw. Ryan was driving so I persuaded him to stop and let me go in and ask for directions since its against a mans bylaws to ask. The female gas attendant was very nice and said we were not far just go down this road and when it deadends take a right. Obviously people in Houma don't go by miles and think not too far is alot further than my definition of not too far. Well after 15 minutes of driving we stopped again for directions. I go in this cajun back woods creole establishment in which the woman looks at me like I am crazy and says welcome to Houma here is a map of the parish! After me figuring out how to open the damn thing and reading it upside down for awhile one lady realized she needed to help a girl out. Once again she said the same as the other gas attendant. So we are back on our way. Make a long story short we finally found it only b/c Ryan saw a steeple in the sky so we followed it we were only 15 minutes late and of course Ryan said he new he was going the right way all along.

The way home was no better actually a little worse we visited
Terrebonne and Tibodeux parishes, only stopped one time for
directions, and finally called Linette to find out how to get back to civilization. I have to say it was quite an expierence and got to see lots of shrimp boats, some of the finest cajun homes, a few swamps, and stopped at one Bubba Gump gift shop to take some pics with a nice gator!
Hope everyone has a great weekend, Make the best of it no matter if you are in the country, bayou, or the city!
