RIP Al Copeland

Here are some more pics from Celebration in the Oaks and from the late Al Copeland's house. For those of you who don't know him, he is the founder of Popeyes, Copelands, & Copelands Cheesecake Bistro. He passed away this past March from Merkle Cell Carcinoma. He has always been known for his outlandish Christmas displays at his house in Metairie. This will be the last year the lights will shine on 5001 Folse Drive. Mr. Copeland has donated the decor to Lafreniere Park for next year. Thanks for the best fried chicken ever and spreading the Christmas spirit!!

Who are these people!

Today was a good Christmas card day!! Hooray! We got five cards and they were actually all to us. When I get the mail this time of year, I am just so excited to see a card I don't really pay attention to the name on the envelope. Yesterday we received "The Arnolds" Christmas card for the second Christmas in a row. Sorry but your friends have moved, (I guess they are not really that close since they did move 2 years ago). Anyway looks like the kids have grown but last years Christmas card from you was much cuter!! Enough about "The Arnolds", but I did add the card to our Christmas Tree Card Collection.
My mom had to go back home this morning. :( We had a teary goodbye and Ryan actually asked me was I really 25 when I was still crying 20 minutes later. Oh well what can I say, I love my momma!! I will try and post more pics of our Christmas adventures later. I think we saw all the Christmas lights Metairie has to offer.
I am off to work now!
I hope all of you have tons of Christmas cards in your Mailbox when you get home today, whether you know the sender or not!

Cajun Cracks!

So its hard to believe it was snowing just four days ago. The high for the upcoming days is 73-78. Ughhh it has been so hot, humid, and just gross. Not good Christmas weather. So that's your weather update today!! Next subject.
My mom is in town to visit and for us to finish up our Christmas shopping, and I am loving it. I was so excited last night I could hardly sleep. Just if I could get her to wake up now. Zoe wouldn't even get up with me this morning. She is all cuddled up with her Gammie! Mom and I went to Celebration in the Oaks last night at City Park. It was our first time to go. My favorite was a Cajun Night Before Christmas! (written this am but forgot to publish) sorry!

I will have to post more later. But just one more I HAVE to share!! It's gross but I had to. My mom about died when I took I pic of this. If the little boy had not walked in front of my shot. It would have been even better or worse whatever you, kwim

LMAO!!
Hope your week is all its CRACKED up to be !!

Christmas Loves!

-the shopping, even the crowds it makes it more fun!
-getting dressed up for the parties
-the gifts
-the food
-spending time with family
-the gifts
-decorating (I always despised helping my mom decorate but now I am getting as bad as her) I love it and the more the better!!
-me and Ryan riding around looking at Christmas lights
-Christmas in the Oaks
-the gifts
-wrapping presents and putting pretty bows on them (the real bows not the paper ones!)
-thinking of gifts people will hopefully love
-new tradition but I know I will love it, we are taking jackets to the homeless downtown (I do like to give as well as receive)
-the smell of my moms house at Christmas, I can't even describe it but its awesome
-seeing my nieces and nephews faces light up with each present they open! they love them all, even clothes!!
-I guess the only thing I don't like about Christmas is having to keep surprises. I am terrible at that part!!
Hope you are enjoying the Christmas season so far!

It's up.

The masterpiece is complete! I know a little obnoxious as always. I am just not the red and green original type of girl! After finishing the tree Ryan decided he would like a real one instead. Oh well so sorry, theres always next year. Just have to deal with a artificial one, a evergreen candle, and your imagination!

Texas Turkey First

I have not stopped since we arrived back home from TX. The minute we drove into the neighborhood and I saw everyone was all decorated for Christmas I was so jealous. So I have been busting butt to catch up. Not to mention Ryan has been sick and I have had to take on cooking duty while trying to de-germ the house.
Our trip was fun and of course memorable as always.
Here are a couple of first I experienced while in TEXAS....
1. attending my first bachelor party
2. visiting my first gentleman's club
3. talking with a stripper (she needed a tampon ewww...)
4. my first thanksgiving off from work in 4 years
5. playing a wii for the first time, I loved it!! (hint hint Santa!!)
6. sleeping on a couch bed that was actually comfortable
7. shopping at IKEA, which I loved as well
8. my first time getting lost in BFE TX, while my husband decides to take a run to Pizza Hut!
9. went on a really long expensive cab ride during which I snoozed the whole time
10. our first holiday spent away from AL or LA but was def. spent with good friends in the company of a great time!
Hope your turkey day was spent with the ones that mean the most!

Turkey bedtime & Yellow Trees

glitter-graphics.comWe had the inlaws and the great aunts over for dinner on Saturday night and it went very nicely. Ryan did a great job cooking the meal and I was in charge of the turkey decor, plating the food, and setting the table. I know, I know that was alot of work for me but somehow I managed to get it done!! Everything was a hit from the green beans to the turkey chair covers with matching cloth napkins!!
Our Thanksgiving day will be spent in the car driving to Texas for a wedding. Might I add my very clean car. Ryan spent all day Sunday cleaning my dirty car. He put $7.00 worth of quarters in the vaccuum machine thingy just to get it looking half way decent and he washed it twice. It looks awesome inside and out. I am going to try and keep it that way!
On to the next topic for discussion. I haven't started putting up my christmas decor yet but I plan on it as soon as I can get the turkeys to bed. My grandmother gave me lots of
"white" christmas tree garland, wreaths, and little trees she got from you know where, QVC. But here is the dilemma they have all turned yellow. I thought I might could do something with them. I thought about just spray painting them funky colors but they are prelit. I actually googled this subject and much to my surprise I did not find an answer. Google always knows the answer but not this time.

Any Ideas??

Cold Cold Go Away!

So I have had enough of the cold weather, winter can be over now, not sure if it has even started yet but I had enough. We froze our booties off at the garage sale on Saturday. I have to say we did pretty good. My grandmother made almost 1000 dollars. Its funny how you buy something for fifty bucks and then are happy to sell it for 5 at a sale. Easy come easy go I guess you can say. There is going to be some old ladies in Coffeeville sportin some snazzy new clothes. My grandmothers qualifications for clothes seems to be flashy, sparkly, or studded with jewels. Don't think like stripper old lady but classy grandma!
I did get a pretty good deal on a Christmas tree I sold. I bought it at a garage sale 5 years ago for 15 and I sold it for 10. I think I got my moneys worth out of it. I also scored a gorgeous Christmas tree skirt still in the box from QVC! I also got some kitchen gadgets from pampered chef for my hubby.
One woman's junk is another woman's treasures!!
Happy Monday!

Coffeeville QVC

I am off to Coffeeville this AM, well as soon as this never ending nite of work will end. I think it has been the longest night of my life.... Anyway I am going to help my mom with a garage sale this weekend. We are trying to help my Grandmother get rid of tons of stuff she does not use or would never think of wearing. She is a recovering QVC, HSN addict so this is going to be one jam up garage sale. We had to rent a storage building just to hold the stuff until we could get around to having it. Hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoys the chilly fall weather that is coming our way!!

Bulls, Brides, & Booze

So I had the pleasure of playing many roles this weekend. Friday we began in the quarter as tourist and ended the night with me as a bull rider.

Saturday I was a hungover shopper that scored a 7.5 ft. prelit Christmas tree, a cute black dress with shoes, necklace, and, earrings to match.

Sunday
we were travelers on the road to Mobile to my uncles fourth wedding. I will say he is much older and wiser now, so maybe this one will be the ticket!!

The rest of the day we spent catching up with the fam and Joyce, but she is practically family. Aunt Jess and Uncle Ryan taught our nieces all about reminiscing. We went to my old hospital I worked at and my apt I used to live in. Then we went to the college I graduated from, which there mom attends now. They decided I should be the uncle and Ryan should be the aunt but hey whatever works!
As the day came to a close we were back to being travelers and then a chauffeur to the lost bride and groom who couldn't find there honeymoon suite. We got them all settled in and then this morning dropped them off at the cruise terminal for the rest of their honeymoon fun!! ....man I am jealous
So no matter what the role you play just do it and do it well!!
Even if you fall off try again.
After the third bull ride just give up, take my advice that don't get any easier!!

From the Gutter!

On Sundays me and the hubby like to go to the French Quarter and see the sights and mostly just people watch. I love going out in groups with all our friends, but it has been so much fun just for the two of us to get away by ourselves and go out! It is amazing what some people will wear or not wear in public. The most fun though is listening to the people around you talk. Ryan is always oblivious to the conversations around us, but I can be having a full conversation with Ryan and also know what is going on in the conversations around me. Yes nosy I guess you could say, but lets call it intrigued, that sounds better! Here are some pics from our last couple of trips! Oh yeah and don't forget the Lucky Dogs, another one my faves!!

It was a beautiful day! I would maybe like to live in the Quarter for like a month, if I didn't have to worry about parking of course!
I think you left your wife in the car! The Guardian of Tropical Isle!! Some big nuts I just had to take a pic What they make people do for advertisement. I had to pick on the poor guy also. Through his costume you could hear a muffled voice saying "I accept tips" so I told him he could have some cash if he could grab it out of my hand. Poor thing tried and tried but couldn't get those fat little fingers to hold on to it! Taking pics of the people across from us in the gutter too!
These are not in order we did go to church first! Taking pics of the mass schedule for future reference. The hubby of course not wanting his pic taken

Just thought this was deserving of a
photo
Me trying to get a shot of us from the gutter. A tourist offered to take our pic but she didn't do much better! Go Saints!! Celebrating the win at Tropical Isle! St. Louis Cathedral (I told you the pics are not in order)

The Candle Room It was beautiful the pics don't do it justice. I agree with Ryan, Catholic churches are much prettier
than Baptist! but Shh, Don't tell my mom!
my little friend!
