Bring it on but be nice to us!!

So I have everything, well most everything packed and ready, from beanie weanies to baby wipes!! I think that should cover it. I even have my wedding photos, (I mean our wedding photos, oops), scrapbooks, and all my important documents here incase the house gets flooded. We are holding on to the fact that our neighborhood did not flood for Katrina so we are one up on that! My imprisonment at Touro will start Sunday at 6pm and last until everything is over and the city officials say people can return to the city. Then we just have to wait for the recovery team of nurses to come and relieve us. (Stefanie hurry back and save me, but be safe!! Love you!!) Some hospitals are still waiting on the recovery nurses to come back from Katrina but I am not going there. I am being postive. (Postive jessica Positve!!)
I have so much nervous energy tonight at work. I think Lauren is going to hurt me if I don't stop cleaning and arranging the cabinets. I will have tommorrow night off to regroup and then Touro here I come hopefully without Gustav but we will all make the best of what is to come. I am not so much nervous as I am just anxious just to get this all behind us.
I am sure most of you have already started to evacuate and hope everyone is taking the necessary precautions and safety will be all around you! Don't let anyone tell you, you are being to cautious. You would rather be safe than sorry!!

Well thats of enough ranting and rambling for now.
I am off to see what Bob Breck has to say.
Oh yeah and check on my patients!!

The joys of a RN!

Just wanted to let everyone know I am required personnel for Hospital Staff for Gustav~!!
Please pray that this storm will not be severe or maybe even just disappear. I am very nervous and scared especially since the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina is tomorrow.
I was not living here when Katrina came but Ryan did experience it first hand. NOLA has recovered beyond belief but you can still see the lasting effects of Katrina to this day. Ryan has assured me that I will be at one of the safest places I can be, so I am holding on to that fact and I truly believe we are more prepared this time.

All of you along the Gulf Coast who will be evacuating my prayers are with you for safety for you and your families.

p.s.
Remember to keep all receipts if you have to evacuate for a Hurricane. There is a coverage on all (most) homeowners polices that will reimburse you for any additional living expenses (ALE). Gas receipts, Hotel, eating out, emergency supplies. Even if your homes does not have any damage you can still be reimbursed and the deductible does not apply.

Check, Check, Check!

This weekend has brought some relaxation and lots of things checked off my To Do List. On Friday morning after working all night I went to the dreadful DMV to get my almost expired AL tag changed to a LA tag. Usually trips to the DMV here take all day so I was prepared with a good book and my Nintendo DS in tow. I arrived right at opening only to find that 50 other people were already in line. Much to my surprise the lines moved quickly I was out by 9. Came home spent some time with the Hubby and was off for a day of shopping all by lonesome only to run into Lauren one of my besties and we were off to Chalmette on the hunt for a shady Brake Tag Inspection Station that would give me my sticker without giving me grief about my broken windshield. So through the Ninth Ward we go and arrive and accomplished our mission. Ryan was dismayed, he had already told me there was no need for me even to try to get a brake tag with my bo bo windshield, but of course you know me I usually don't listen.
Saturday I helped Tia and Kady with a yard sale. They recently had a very messy to say the least, tenant move out and left lots behind. I guess its true what they say one mans junk is another mans treasure. Because let me tell you, we sold some JUNK!! It was scorching hot but we had a great day just hanging out and laughing. Tia and I decided we would go out for a few drinks that night but we needed a little nap first. That little nap turned into 12 hours, so needless to say we didn't make it out. Going out and partying till the wee hours of the morning is getting less appealing to me these days. I am sure some would say it is about time!!
So whatever you spent your weekend doing I hope it was a good one and you are refreshed and ready to start your week!!

sorry looks like I accidentally left out the fact that my wonderful husband did accompany me to the DMV. sorry for the omission!

Be Nice or Else!

Just a little cartoon for my anonymous commenter. Please identify yourself so I can set you straight!

Hope all of you have had a great weekend. It has rained here for three days straight and I have had a terrible migraine for two of those days. I just keep refreezing the butter beans and putting them back on my neck. I almost used all the Head On and my head still hurts.

p.s. tomorrow is D-Day or should I say lifestyle change once AGAIN!!

Happy Birthday Blog!!

Today I celebrate my first blog-birthday!
One year ago today I began my blogging journey. I started it on a whim with no intentions what so ever. Thanks to my readers, like all five of you!!
I know I go through weeks where I have nothing to post or no time to post the things I want, but for some reason you keep coming back! Some of you visit and are silent, some leave comments that is fine, and some of you read only because you are forced to, or because you are bored out of your mind while at work.
Whatever the reason is, I hope occasionally I have been able to bring a smile to your face and if not oh well learn too smile more.
It helps your overall appearance and your mental state of mind.
So 'Sassy Southern Girl' Happy Birthday and hopefully many happy more to come!!

Goodbye Summer

The signs that summer is coming to an end are all around. Well, not that the 95 degree days are going anywhere any time soon, but you know what I mean. Back to school sales, school supplies in every store, school buses on the go again, and the return of heavier traffic in the am! My niece Maggy will be starting her first day of school today. It is just kind of sad because I still think of her as a little baby and I know once she starts school she is going to grow up so fast and change so much. She will be a dirty little 5th grader before we know it. Ryan is very nervous for her to start. He hated going to school, cried everyday and begged his mom not to make him go. Me on the other hand I LOOOOVED school. Everything about it even homework. I remember in kindergarden I would do twice as many alphabet pages for homework as the teacher assigned. I was such a teachers pet, for the first year any way! I did outgrow the eagerness and that fat pencil was so hard to write with. Thank goodness they have done away with fat pencils and Maggy won't have to write with one of those. So to our little girl who will soon be a little know it all, I hope you have a great first day at school and meet some great new friends. p.s. my best friend to this day I met in kindergarden and we still talk at least once a week. Love you Jess!!
